Tracey Flies At Jells Park

Tracey Austin ran 22:00 to be sixth fastest overall

The XCR'15 season kicked off last Saturday with the cross country relays at Jells Park. Malvern was well represented with three complete teams for both the men's and women's competitions.

Conditions were almost perfect which made for good running, however this wasn't always reflected in the times as a course change at the western end added some extra distance.

With the relays attracting 344 teams, a record for the event, it was a tough competition with our teams finishing middle of the road. We did, however, have some excellent individual performances.

Malvern Extend Tan Challenge Lead

Malvern was able to take advantage of a nearly full strength squad on Saturday to extend the club’s standing in the annual Malvern versus Richmond Tan Challenge. Malvern now leads 16 wins to Richmond’s 13 after the 29th running of the 8km race.

Malvern perennials Shaun Green (28:06) and Tracey Austin (29:24) won the first place medallions in the open race, as did newcomer Sophia Hanlon in the junior race.

It was great for the club to have so many of our athletes competing which bodes well for the winter season ahead.
