Malvern had a good day out at Sandown Racecourse for the XCR road relays. Twenty three Malvern athletes turned up to race despite a forecast of torrential rain. Fortunately, the rain held off except for a light sprinkling on the leg three runners.

Our women's division two team was strengthened by the return of Tracey Austin (22:32) and Michelle Jelleff (25:17). With good runs from Nicki Macfarlane (25:39) and Lisa Dommisse (29:17), the team had its best result of the season by finishing fifth. Our division five team had strong performances from Eimear Fox, Caroline Howard and Christine Horn.

Meanwhile, our men's teams were well represented with three complete teams, with Damien Bertram (21:57), Jaco Kukkuk (23:02) and Anthony Gray (23:23) having good runs. Junior athlete Jamie Ruskin (29:21) had a strong run in his debut in the men's division four team.

It was great to have Frances Albertyn (28:52) and Jono Rau (26:13) running well in an invitational team.
